Bay County Chamber of Commerce Announces New President & CEO, Al McCambry

News Releases Chamber Announcements

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – The Bay County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is proud to announce the appointment of Al McCambry as the organization’s new President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.

McCambry previously served as the Regional General Manager for Point Broadband, where he led operations across Northwest Florida, Alabama, North Georgia and North Texas. With an extensive background spanning corporate leadership, education, and community service, McCambry brings a proven record of building relationships that strengthen both business and workforce development throughout the region.

A longtime resident of Bay County, McCambry has dedicated his career to advancing opportunity and collaboration. He previously served as Dean of Workforce Development and Director of the Gulf/Franklin Campus at Gulf Coast State College, where he was instrumental in securing over $18 million in Triumph Gulf Coast grants for the college’s Nursing Simulation Center and Unmanned Aerial Systems Bootcamp Facility.

His community involvement is equally impressive. McCambry has served on the boards of the Bay County Chamber & the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce, where he served as Chairman of both organizations, the Bay Economic Development Alliance, the Early Learning Coalition of Northwest Florida, and Gulf Coast Regional Medical Center, where he also served as Board Chair. Known for his servant leadership and faith-driven approach, McCambry is often described as a “champion of the underdog,” recognizing potential in others and inspiring those around him to pursue their best selves.

“Al is an exceptional leader with deep roots in Bay County and a passion for helping others succeed,” said Shane Boyett, Chairman of the Bay County Chamber Board of Directors. “His business acumen, community focus, and collaborative spirit make him the perfect choice to guide the Chamber into its next chapter of growth and advocacy.”

Before joining Point Broadband, McCambry held senior leadership positions with Comcast and Knology (now WOW! Internet, Cable & Phone) and later transitioned to higher education. His career has been defined by bridging the gap between industry and education to ensure communities thrive through skilled workforce development and strong local economies.

“It’s an honor to lead an organization that has long stood at the heart of progress in Bay County,” said McCambry. “The Chamber plays a vital role in uniting businesses, developing leaders, and shaping the future of our region. I look forward to working alongside our members and partners to continue building a better Bay.”

Outside of his professional life, McCambry enjoys spending time with his wife of nearly 41 years, Debbie, their children and grandchildren. Known affectionately as “Papa,” he lives by a simple belief: “It’s easy to find differences, but the only way forward is together.”
